Symphony Orchestra heading to Indianapolis for prestigious festival

The Hanford High School Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Music for All National Orchestra Festival next week in Indianapolis. The HHS Symphony Orchestra is one of only 13 orchestras from across the nation selected. In addition to performing at the prestigious festival, the young musicians will have an opportunity to work with, and learn from, some of the top orchestra clinicians in the world.

“Our orchestra program is relatively young so it's amazing to be able to attend a world class music festival like this,” stated Chris Newbury, HHS music teacher and symphony orchestra director.

The Hanford High School Symphony Orchestra meets after school and is made up of the school’s Chamber Orchestra and various winds and percussion. The students associated with this ensemble have gone on to excel at top institutions such as Harvard, Dartmouth, Stanford, and Carnegie Mellon.
