Ongoing safety and security drills are a top priority

Safety drills are an important component of the Richland School District emergency response plan. Each RSD school conducts at least nine drills each year including three lockdown drills.

A point of emphasis at a recent lockdown drill at Richland High School was checking every exterior door to make sure the doors were locking automatically. Seen above are RHS Principal Tim Praino and Richland Police officers checking one of the door locking mechanisms.

The Richland School District works closely with Richland and West Richland fire and police departments and Benton County Emergency Services in continually improving campus emergency plans to ensure the safety of students and staff.

“Our partnership with local police and fire is critical to student and staff safety,” says Superintendent Rick Schulte. “They are consistently involved in our lockdown drills and with our emergency response planning.”
