Hundreds Of Students To Participate In Field Day On May 15

Student athletes with disabilities will take to the field at Fran Rish Stadium on May 15 to raise awareness, celebrate their strengths and build community at the second annual RSD Field Day.

“We want to see folks pack the stands at Fran Rish and see the amazing things our students are capable of,” says Scott Piippo, the event’s organizer and a special education teacher at Richland High School.

Lamb Weston and community partners Hi-Line Engineering, Gale-Rew Construction, Kadlec, Bush Car Wash, Framatome, Inc., Cameron and Kris Mitchell, and Cornerstone Wealth Strategies are sponsoring the track and field event for students receiving special education services in Richland schools. Approximately 250 students in kindergarten through Grade 12 will participate in a variety of traditional and non-traditional athletic activities at the stadium.

“This is a positive and powerful community event that shows our dedication to all our students," Piippo says.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and admission is free.
