Staff Spotlight: Sacajawea Elementary's Ellie Rosser

Ellie Rosser’s first job out of college was working in a special education program at Sacajawea Elementary. Now she’s back at the school as a site coordinator for Communities In Schools and couldn’t be happier.

“There’s just something about working in a school where the kids are always so happy to see you,” Ellie says.

Her role at the school is wide-ranging; she was making home visits in August to touch base with prospective kindergarten families before she’d even had a chance to set up her office. She’s currently supporting literacy and attendance initiatives at Sacajawea and while planning a morning breakfast club for students to help them feel more connected to school. She’s also there to be a resource for families, connect them to services and be supportive.

“I love this work because I love helping people,” Ellie says. “There’s something about sitting down with someone in a tough situation, being able to listen to them and offer solutions.”
