The current assistant principal of Enterprise Middle School will become the school’s leader beginning in the 2022-23 school year.
Sheldon Weddle will replace Principal Jennifer Klauss, who will finish out the 2021-22 school year before taking on a new role as the Richland School District’s Executive Director of Teaching, Learning & Curriculum.
District leaders say Mr. Weddle’s record of supporting Enterprise students and staff by forging strong relationships, identifying student needs and building community will set the school up for ongoing success.
“Sheldon has been at Enterprise for only a couple years but he has fully embraced the whole community there while working hard to serve every student,” says Assistant Superintendent Todd Baddley. “We’re confident his leadership will ensure the school continues to be a transformative place for learning.”
Mr. Weddle started his educational career as a math teacher at Desert Hills Middle School in the Kennewick School District. He joined RSD as a math teacher at Carmichael Middle School in 2012. He served briefly as Carmichael’s Dean of Students until joining Enterprise as an assistant principal in 2019. He has overseen that school’s math, science and career and technical education (CTE) departments while also playing a role in everything from planning the school’s master class schedules to implementing inclusive practices.
“I’m so fortunate that my journey through education led me to Enterprise,” Mr. Weddle says. “I’m thrilled to know that I get to keep working with so many dedicated staff, engaging with so many extraordinary students and supporting such a wonderful community.”
Mr. Weddle holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication from Eastern Washington University (EWU) and a master’s in teaching and mathematics from Western Governors University (WGU). He also has a certification in middle level mathematics from Central Washington University (CWU) and an endorsement in educational leadership from WGU.
