Rachael Morgan Named Principal at Carmichael Middle School

The Richland School District is thrilled to announce Rachael Morgan as the next lead principal of Carmichael Middle School, effective for the 2026–27 school year.

Rachael is no stranger to CMS or RSD, bringing nearly two decades of experience to the role. She began her career at Hanford High School, where she taught German, Geography, and AVID for 12 years. During her time at Hanford, she grew the German program from three sections to seven, led the Falcon Fever varsity dance team to 11 WIAA State Championships, and earned the 2018 RSD Crystal Apple Award.

Rachael later served as an instructional coach and administrative intern at Chief Joseph Middle School before joining CMS as assistant principal in 2022. In her current role, she has led the PBIS team and "Cougar Cash" program, overseen Title I and LAP interventions, and guided 6th-grade transition, ASB, and SEL/advisory work.

"Rachael's biggest impact has been the way she builds relationships and finds the strengths in the people around her," says current CMS Principal Brian Stadelman. "Carmichael's culture has grown significantly since she arrived, and her leadership has driven real, measurable change in how our building runs. Our school will be in excellent hands."

As we welcome Rachael, we also celebrate Principal Brian Stadelman, who is retiring after an incredible 32-year career with RSD. Brian began as a PE teacher at Richland High School and Jefferson Elementary in 1994, later served as CMS assistant principal, and has led Carmichael Middle School as principal since 2011 — shaping the lives of thousands of Cougars along the way.
