The Richland School District is proud to announce that Calvin Chunn, the newly appointed principal of Marcus Whitman Elementary School, has been awarded the prestigious "PSE 2024 Honorary Member of the Year" at the annual Public School Employees (PSE) Convention held on Saturday night, August 3, 2024, in Spokane, WA. This significant achievement marks Mr. Chunn as the first administrator from the Richland School District to receive this esteemed honor.
Mr. Chunn was nominated by a staff member who commended his relentless efforts in fostering a school environment where both employees and students can thrive happily. The nominator highlighted Mr. Chunn’s unwavering dedication to improving the school, emphasizing that he consistently goes above and beyond to enact positive changes and ensure his staff feels heard and valued.
Known for his proactive approach, Mr. Chunn is always ready to address issues and lend a hand to make the lives of Education Support Professionals easier. His commitment to fostering a supportive and effective school community is truly commendable.

Before being named principal, Mr. Chunn was the assistant principal of Marcus Whitman Elementary, a position he has held since 2021.
