The Richland School Board has appointed Ken Gosney to be its newest member.
Gosney was one of six candidates interviewed during a special Board meeting on Monday, Oct. 26 to fill a vacancy on the Board. He will be sworn in at the beginning of the Board’s regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Gosney currently is CEO of Goodwill Industries of The Columbia. Prior to that he worked as a high school educator and administrator for 16 years, including seven years as principal of Hanford High School.
The appointment runs through the fall of 2021 when Gosney will be required to seek re-election to remain on the Board.
The vacancy on the Board resulted from board member Rick Donahoe moving out of state at the end of August. Nineteen community members applied for the vacancy before the remaining board members selected the six finalists.
