The Richland School District proudly announces that Audrey Xu, a senior at Hanford High School, has been awarded a prestigious National Merit Scholarship. Audrey was initially named a National Merit Semifinalist in the fall and advanced to Finalist status earlier this year.
She is one of only 14 students from Washington state selected to receive a corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship. Audrey earned the National Merit Battelle Scholarship, recognizing her exceptional academic record, extracurricular accomplishments, and strong potential for success in rigorous college studies.
Audrey has committed to attending Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science, one of the top-ranked programs in the country.
“I’m passionate about the concept of engineering, through which math and science is applied to solve problems through creation,” said Audrey Xu. “Ultimately, I want to better understand the world, science, and humans, and make a positive impact.”
The Richland School District congratulates Audrey on this outstanding achievement and wishes her continued success in her academic and professional journey.
