Hanford High School Teacher Eric Ogden Receives Statewide New CTE Teacher of the Year Award

The Richland School District is proud to announce that Eric Ogden, a computer science teacher at Hanford High School, has been named the New CTE Teacher of the Year by the Washington Career Counseling and Employment Readiness CTE Section. He received the award at the WA-ACTE Conference in August.

Now entering his third year at Hanford, Eric teaches Video Game Design, Introduction to Computer Science, AP Computer Science, and AP Cybersecurity. Before becoming a teacher, he spent 12 years as a software engineer, bringing valuable industry experience and real-world expertise into the classroom.

Beyond teaching, Eric is committed to helping all students explore computer science and prepare for future careers. He serves on IEP teams, supports inclusive learning opportunities, and advises several student organizations. Under his leadership, Hanford's robotics, esports, and competitive coding programs have earned regional awards, state appearances, and other notable achievements.

This recognition now advances to the state level, where Eric is a nominee for the Washington Association for Career and Technical Education's CTE New Teacher of the Year award.

The Richland School District congratulates Eric on this well-deserved honor and thanks him for his dedication to students and Career and Technical Education.
