February is CTE Month!

The Richland School District is immensely proud of our Career & Technical Education (CTE). The month of February is used to celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of our CTE programs, teachers and students.

CTE provides middle and high school students with the academic and technical skills, knowledge, leadership and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners.

RSD has 47 CTE teachers who teach 95 courses in programs areas of Agriculture, Business and Marketing, Family and Consumer Science, Health Science, Skilled and Technical Science, STEM and Work Site Learning. CTE courses are offered at all RSD middle and high schools.

Enrollment in the program for the 2021-22 school year included 644 students (44%) in grades 7-8 and 3,513 (79%) students in grades 9-12. Currently, more than 30% of RSD seniors are on track to graduate high school through the CTE graduation pathway, which requires students to complete 2 or more credits in a single CTE program area.

Nationally, students following a CTE graduation pathway have a 94% graduation rate, most enroll directly into college and earn higher median annual wages upon graduation than students who did not focus on CTE in high school (Department of Education).
