The Richland School District is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of its Destination Imagination (DI) teams this year. A total of 22 teams competed at the regional tournament, with nine advancing to the state level. Among the standout performers was Badger Mountain Elementary’s “Bazooka Blast,” which earned second place in the highly competitive Technical Challenge at the state competition, qualifying them for the prestigious Global Finals.
The Bazooka Blast team, comprised of Lucas Lemond-Rosario, Alicia Scheerer, Lily Bearss, Fahad Haque, and Alex Portaro, have the opportunity to showcase their creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills at the end of May during the Global Finals held in Missouri.
Destination Imagination is an internationally recognized program that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork. Students select from one of seven challenges ranging from Fine Arts to Engineering and spend months developing innovative solutions. In addition to their main project, teams participate in fast-paced "instant challenges" that test their ability to think on their feet.
