August 15, 2023 at 9 a.m. More election information can be found at www.bentonauditor.com/Current-Election.
Q: Who appoints new directors to the school board?
If school board directors are recalled, it is the responsibility of the educational service district's board (ESD123) to appoint a sufficient number of board members to constitute a legal majority. Q: What is ESD123?
An Educational Service District, or ESD, is a regional education unit in the U.S. state of Washington. Organizationally different from a school district, a single ESD in Washington serves dozens of school districts. ESDs are established to allow school districts to work, plan, and buy equipment collectively.
Educational Service District 123 (ESD123), based in Pasco, is one of nine ESDs in Washington. Dedicated to delivering collaborative solutions that promote learning, ESD 123 serves 23 school districts in seven counties of Southeastern Washington. Learn more at www.esd123.org.
Q: What steps is the ESD123 taking to prepare for the RSD school board appointment?
ESD 123 has released a statement regarding RSD's school board appointment. Read the full statement at www.esd123.org/about/news/recent/richland_school_board_appointment.
Q: When can the appointment take place?
No action will be taken before the election results are certified on August 15, 2023. ESD123 will release more information about the appointment after certification.
