To our Richland School District community,
State lawmakers recently completed their 2019 legislative session and made several late changes to funding for schools. The changes do improve the district’s budget outlook overall though the full impacts are still being determined.
The Richland School Board has determined that the latest funding adjustments mean the district will not layoff any staff members for the 2019-20 school year. The district may still make staffing changes dependent on the needs of students and programs. Other non-staffing related budget reductions proposed for next school year are still being considered.
The Board has moved a planned May 2 budget workshop meeting to May 21 at 6:30 p.m. to give district officials the opportunity to integrate these adjustments into the district’s draft 2019-20 budget. We encourage the community to look for updates from the district as the budgeting process for next year continues.
