Student Transfers

Out-of-District and In-District transfer requests may be submitted beginning February 1 for the upcoming school year. Out-of-District Transfer requests must originate through your boundary school district using their Choice Transfer Form.

Parent/Guardian Transfer Agreement

Transportation will be the responsibility of the parent(s) or guardian for all students on transfer.

I agree to continue my child’s enrollment in the requested school for the entire school year.
I agree to notify the district if at any time, after the first year, I wish to return my child to the attendance area school.
I agree to contact the school’s Athletic Director for clarification of athletic eligibility for my high school student.

By submitting the forms below, I attest have read and understand this agreement and that all information provided is accurate.

NOTE: Until notified by Richland School District Student Services, the request is not approved and student must register in home attendance area school.

In-District Transfer Requests

In-District transfer requests may be submitted beginning February 1 for the upcoming school year.

Each year by March 15, the district will establish load levels (space limitations) for individual classes/programs, grade levels and building capacities. All requests received will be reviewed and decided within 45 days of submission. Requests will be subject to space limitations based on enrollment projections. Please see Policy 3131 for more information.

2026-27 Transfer Form

Falsifying information, documents, or the failure to notify the district of changes in residence status with regard to enrolling in a non-attendance area school may result in the student(s) being withdrawn and returned to their attendance area school.

Out-Of-District Transfers

Out-of-District Transfer Requests

Out-of-District transfer requests must be submitted every year beginning February 1 for the upcoming school year. Students transferring to an RSD school from outside RSD must begin the transfer process with their home district.

Each year by March 15, the district will establish load levels (space limitations) for individual classes/programs, grade levels and building capacities. Once any of these are reached, no out-of district transfer students will be accepted. Requests received before March 15, will be temporarily deferred until March 15th. At which time, the district has 45 days to approve or deny the request. Please see Policy 3141 for more information.

Intent to Homeschool

A parent who intends to cause his/her child or children to receive home‐based instruction in lieu of attendance or enrollment in a public school, approved private school, or an extension program of an approved private school must file an annual declaration of intent to do so.

The Intent to Homeschool form must be filed annually by September 15 or within two weeks of the beginning of any public‐ school quarter, trimester, or semester. Send forms to Richland School District/Student Services, 6972 Keene Rd, West Richland, WA 99353.
