Policy 4320 - Contacts with Students

A. Advertising and Promotion

Advertising and promotion of commercial activities shall not be allowed in the Richland School District unless approved by the superintendent or designee.

Nonprofit organizations promoting activities that have social, recreational, or educational value to students may be permitted to publicize such activities to students in the Richland School District. Distribution of materials relating to nonschool activities must be approved by the superintendent or designee.

B. Fund Drives

While community sponsored fund drives are generally for very worthy causes and should receive hearty citizen support, participation in these drives should not be an activity of the public schools. Therefore, fund drives originating outside the schools will not be permitted in Richland Schools.

Publicity relating to such drives shall be restricted to placing a limited number of agency-provided posters in mixing areas and hallways of the schools. The text of posters must be approved by the superintendent or designee.
