Policy 3300 - Student Out-of-District Overnight Travel

School-related travel is an important factor in the learning process. It gives students the opportunity to acquire new social skills, to develop a camaraderie with fellow students and to discover new worlds. Out-of-district travel can stimulate in-school learning by providing diversity and promoting outside interests.

The following belief statements are based on this philosophy:

  1. That regular school attendance is a major component in the learning process and should be considered in developing guidelines for extracurricular activities.
  2. That students' mental, emotional and physical energies should be directed, first, toward education in the classroom.
  3. That the educational value of travel will be aligned with district philosophy and instructional goals and objectives.
  4. That exceptional opportunities may arise for student growth. These circumstances should be considered on an individual basis by the secondary/elementary principals in the district.

The superintendent or designee will establish rules and regulations that shall be followed in support of this policy.
