Policy 3300 - Student Out-of-District Overnight Travel
School-related travel is an important factor in the learning process. It gives students the opportunity to acquire new social skills, to develop a camaraderie with fellow students and to discover new worlds. Out-of-district travel can stimulate in-school learning by providing diversity and promoting outside interests.
The following belief statements are based on this philosophy:
- That regular school attendance is a major component in the learning process and should be considered in developing guidelines for extracurricular activities.
- That students' mental, emotional and physical energies should be directed, first, toward education in the classroom.
- That the educational value of travel will be aligned with district philosophy and instructional goals and objectives.
- That exceptional opportunities may arise for student growth. These circumstances should be considered on an individual basis by the secondary/elementary principals in the district.
The superintendent or designee will establish rules and regulations that shall be followed in support of this policy.
