Policy 3231 - Searches of Students and Their Property
A student shall be free from searches of his/her clothing and other personal property unless there is a reasonable belief that something is concealed that may be in violation of school rules or of immediate danger to the student or to other students. School officials shall request the student to remove all items from pockets or other personal effects. If the student refuses and there is no immediate danger, school officials shall refrain from a search until the parent or, in the case of possible criminal activity, law enforcement officers are available. The superintendent shall develop procedures for conducting personal searches of students and their property.
