Policy 1723 - Establishing Superintendent's Compensation
The superintendent shall be compensated at a level which is based on past performance and will stimulate productive effort on the behalf of the district. At the same time the compensation should be equitable compared to that paid to other public officials with similar responsibilities.
To determine the compensation of the superintendent, the board of directors shall consider, among other things, all the following factors:
- The annual appraisal of the superintendent as performed under policy number 1722.
- Compensation of other district professional and administrative employees.
- Compensation of superintendents and administrators with similar responsibilities in other districts.
- Compensation of other public officials in the state of Washington with comparable responsibilities (e.g. city managers, state officials).
- Changes in cost of living region as reflected in published federal government statistics.
Compensation of the superintendent shall be reviewed and set annually on or before August 1.
