Policy 1630 - Evaluation of the Superintendent
The board will establish evaluative criteria and be responsible for evaluating the superintendent's performance. Timing and deadlines for this evaluation are outlined in the Superintendent’s contract.
Evaluative criteria shall include, but not limited to, the following categories: knowledge of, experience in, and training in recognizing good professional performance, capabilities, and development; school administration and management; school finance; professional preparation and scholarship; effort toward improvement when needed; interest in pupils, employees, patrons, and subjects taught in school; leadership; and ability and performance in evaluating school personnel.
The superintendent will be able to hold executive sessions with the board members on no less than three occasions each year to aid and review the superintendent in his/her performance. Based on the evaluation, the board may renew or extend the superintendent’s contract for periods not exceeding three years, according to the terms of the contract.
