Accountability and transparency are critical to continuous improvement and ensuring schools are meeting the goals and needs of our students, families and communities. Richland School District annually works with auditors and reviewers from a number of local, state and federal agencies, as well as outside experts, to assess programs, review budgets and determine student needs.

The State Board of Education (SBE), which is responsible for ensuring district compliance with the program of Basic Education, annually conducts a survey that allows districts to affirm compliance. Districts were required to provide answers to the following questions for the 2024-2025 school year:

This audit is conducted under the authority of RCW 43.09.260, which requires the Office of the Washington State Auditor to examine the financial affairs of all local governments. This audit involved obtaining evidence about RSD's use of public resources, compliance with state laws and regulations and its own policies and procedures, and internal controls over such matters. The procedures performed were based on our assessment of risks in the areas we examined.

OSPI's Child Nutrition Services department collects free and reduced-price meals eligibility data from public school districts that participate in the National School Lunch Program each year.
This data reflects students enrolled in a participating school with access to school meals. This data is used to determine area eligibility for At-Risk Programs, Summer Programs, After School Snack Programs, the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, CACFP Family Day Care Home Providers, as well as for Child Nutrition Services grants.
