
2026 Levy

In February 2026, voters will be asked to renew the Richland School District’s four-year Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) and Capital Projects Technology Levies. These levies were approved by voters in 2022 and are due to expire at the end of 2026. They are not new taxes.

What Do Levies Fund?
Levies are for learning. They directly support RSD students by enriching basic education with funding for essential, community-valued programs, services, and day-to-day school operations not funded by the state.
Educational Programs & Operations Levy Pays For...
STUDENT LEARNING
Levy funding helps provide rigorous academic opportunities such as Advanced Placement (AP), world languages, and courses that prepare students for college and career success.
ART IN SCHOOLS
Supports creative electives and courses including visual arts, music, and drama, ensuring every student has the opportunity to explore and express their creativity.
Student Enrichment
Funds before- and after-school clubs, activities, and advisors, as well as travel for competitions, concerts, field trips, and other experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom.
Student Athletics
Covers costs for sports programs, coaches, athletic directors, equipment, and travel for away games, promoting teamwork, leadership, and school pride.
Curriculum and Instructional Materials
Ensures students have access to up-to-date curriculum, textbooks, and hands-on learning tools that make learning engaging and relevant.
Student Support Services
Provides funding for counselors, social workers, school psychologists, and other professionals who support student well-being and success.
School Operations
Keeps schools running smoothly by funding utilities, insurance, materials, basic supplies, and maintenance staff, including custodians who help maintain safe and clean learning environments.
Staffing and Class Size
Levies fund 13% of certificated staff (teachers and specialists) and 16% of classified staff (paraeducators and office professionals). This allows for smaller class sizes and more elective opportunities for students.
Professional Development
Supports ongoing training and professional development so teachers and staff can continue to grow in their fields and provide high-quality education.

Digital Learning
Funds digital curriculum resources and online instructional tools that enhance classroom learning and give students access to engaging, interactive lessons.
Student Technology & Devices
Supports the purchase, maintenance, and replacement of Chromebooks and other devices, ensuring every student has access to technology—no matter their economic background.
Classroom Technology
Provides interactive tools and hardware, such as smart whiteboards, sound systems, and assistive technology, to help teachers create dynamic, hands-on learning experiences.
Software & Communication Tools
Covers online platforms and software that allow families to monitor student progress, attendance, assignments, and grades, while staying connected with teachers and school staff.
Cybersecurity & Online Safety
Funds security systems, monitoring tools, and data protection measures that safeguard student and staff information and ensure safe online learning environments.
Technology Infrastructure
Supports reliable internet access, network connectivity, and system maintenance, minimizing disruptions and allowing classrooms to run smoothly.
Gaps in State Funding
Levy dollars make up the difference between what the state provides for basic K-12 education and what it costs to educate 13,700 students and operate 21 schools.
