Family Tech Help

Canvas is an online learning management system for middle and high schools. This is where you can see your student's classes, grades, assignments, etc. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to pair with their student's Canvas account as an observer.

Sign Up Instructions

1. Open a browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc) and enter the following url: https://parents.classlink.com/rsd.
2. On the Welcome Page, enter the email address you use to receive communication from your child’s school and click Next.
3. Go to your email provider. Look for an email from “Classlink” in your inbox. There will be a “One-Time Password” or “ClassLink Verification Code” included in the message.
4. Copy and Paste the Password/Code from your ClassLink Verification message. Go back to your web browser and enter the code in the box and click Verify.
5. On the next screen, enter your name and password to complete setting up your RSD Family Portal Account. Then click Sign Up.

Troubleshooting

If you receive an error message when entering your email, please login to your Powerschool Parent Portal to update your contact information. If you need assistance accessing and updating your information in powerschool, please contact your child’s school or follow the instruction in the Powerschool dropdown below.

If you are an RSD employee, your “@rsd.edu” email address will not work.  You will need to use an alternate email address.  If this alternate email address is not on file at your child’s school, please login to the Powerschool Parent Portal to update your contact information or call your child’s school.

Registration

1. Begin by going to www.parentsquare.com/signin. You must register using your phone number or email address you provided to your student's school. If you are unsure of what phone number of email address the school has on file, reach out to your student's school secretary.
2. After selecting a password and confirming, a verification code will be sent to the email or phone number. Enter the verification code and login.
3. Confirm your child(ren) by clicking Confirm. Use Not My Child if a child listed is not associated with your account. 
4. Select Yes, This is Me when you have confirmed your contact information and child(ren) associated with your account. (NOTE: Name misspelled? Wrong email or phone number? Missing a child on your account? Contact your child’s school secretary to get this information updated.)

RSD's ParentSquare Webpage

PowerSchool is the district's attendance platform. Use PowerSchool to check student attendance records and final grades for quarters and semesters. Use the link and directions below to create a parent PowerSchool Account. To begin the process of creating an account, visit RSD's Powerschool page. Then follow the instructions below.

PowerSchool Instructions

1. Go to the Richland School District’s website at www.rsd.edu and mouse over the Families dropdown at the top of the page. Click on the PowerSchool Login link.
2. Click on the Parent PowerSchool Login button.
3. The PowerSchool Login screen will open. Click the Create Account tab at the top of the screen and enter your information.
4. Start by entering in the Parent Account Details.
5. In the Link Student Account section, type your child’s full name, Access ID, and Access Password. Please note that the Access ID and Password are case sensitive. If you do not have the Access ID and Access Password for your student, please contact your student’s school secretary.
6. If you have additional children, enter their names and the Access ID’s and passwords given to you by each child’s school secretary.
7. Select your relationship to each student then click the Enter button.
8. The PowerSchool login screen will reopen. This time enter your new Parent Portal Username and password to log into PowerSchool. Please note that the new username and password are case sensitive!
9. You may need to verify your account. If so, go to your email account and look for the 'PowerSchool Account Email Verification'  and click the link in your email to verify your account.
10. After your account is verified, you will need to login to PowerSchool again.
11. Once you are logged into PowerSchool, you will see the names(s) of your children at the top of the screen so that you can switch back and forth between them.
12. If you would like to sign up to receive email Progress Reports and/or attendance updates, click the Email Notification link then select the reports you would like to receive.

If you need your student's Access ID and Access Password, or if you need assistance with your Parent account, send an email to powerschool@rsd.edu.  You may also contact your student's school secretary for assistance obtaining your student's Access ID and Access password.
