Developmental Disabilities Administration

The Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) is transforming lives by providing support and fostering partnerships that empower people to live the lives they want. People with developmental disabilities and their families are valued citizens of the state of Washington. The DDA strives to develop and implement public policies that will promote individual worth, self-respect, and dignity such that each individual is valued as a contributing member of the community.

DSHS Department of Vocational Rehabilitation

The Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) is a statewide resource assisting people with disabilities to prepare for, secure, maintain, advance in, or regain employment. DVR partners with organizations and businesses to develop employment opportunities.

WorkSource

WorkSource is a statewide partnership of state, local and nonprofit agencies that provides an array of employment and training services to job seekers and employers in Washington.

There are several community organizations that offer programs for adults with special needs. Most of these programs are intended for adults ages 18 and up. 

The Arc of Tri-Cities Adult Programs

The Arc of Tri-Cities helps create opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to participate in society to their greatest potential. Annually, The Arc serves more than 2,000 individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Services offered through The Arc include Adult Day Program (Respite), Adult Recreation Activities, Special Olympics Events, VIP Club and more.

Columbia Ability Alliance Community Center

CAA Community Center is a safe, creative, and supervised place for people with disabilities and barriers to find social connection, life enrichment, and community integration.

The Richland School District works diligently to connect with employers to help young adults find jobs after graduation.

Spectrum Studios

Spectrum Studios is a non-profit with a mission to provide employment, on-the-job training, and growth opportunities to young adults on the autism spectrum.

There is a shortage of opportunities for those on the spectrum after high school; Spectrum Studios' desire is to help bridge the gap by offering employment employment in our professional studio.

Columbia Ability Alliance Employment Services

Columbia Ability Alliance (CAA) helps job seekers with disabilities and other barriers obtain and maintain employment in a variety of ways. This includes job placement at a competitive-wage business, job search and skills training, job development and job carving, career counseling and resume building, personalized job coaching and assessment services.

Responding to Autism EmployAbility Services

Responding to Autism's Employment Services Division, EmployAbility Services,  guides job seekers of all abilities to find and sustain meaningful employment through services designed to promote self-sufficiency and independence, remove barriers, create opportunities, and help participants build successful careers.

RSD's Community Based Transition Center (CBTC) is an off campus, adult transition service for students 18-22 years of age. CBTC offers our adult students authentic experiences and schedules, preparing them for their futures as thriving citizens of our community after graduation.

BFT’s Dial A Ride Team received a prestigious Community Service Award in 2022, for their commitment to providing safe, successful transportation for our RSD students to their jobs and community resources.  

About Ben Franklin Transit

BFT has been successful in building a great transit system in Benton and Franklin Counties in southeastern Washington state, serving the cities of Kennewick, Pasco, Richland, West Richland, Benton City, Prosser, and Finley.

BFT's services include fixed route buses, Dial-A-Ride, Vanpool, and Demand Response service in Prosser, Benton City, and Finley.

Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and Technology

DO-IT Scholars prepares Washington State high school students with disabilities for success in college and careers. Scholars attend Summer Study sessions, held during three consecutive summers at the University of Washington campus. This allows students to experience college life and work on self advocacy skills. Throughout the school year, Scholars connect with program staff, DO-IT Mentors, and each other using email and e-lists. They also meet in-person at DO-IT events, complete individual and group projects, and receive valuable information and support for the transition to college.

CBC's Disability Support Services (DSS) is dedicated to ensuring equal access and inclusion for all students with either provisional or permanent physical, health, learning, sensory or psychological disabilities.
