Facility siting decisions are announced

The Richland School District announces two facility siting decisions made at the Tuesday Richland School Board meeting:

  1. The District’s new Teaching Learning Administrative Center (TLAC) will be sited adjacent to Leona Libby Middle School. In 2016, the District purchased 70 acres of land next to Libby for a future high school. The new TLAC will be located on this property.

  2. The District’s 12th elementary school will be sited in the Badger Mountain South development on land the District already owns:
  • The District currently buses about 60 students from Badger Mountain South (BMS).

  • When completed, the BMS development will have 5,000 housing units and 15,000 residents.

  • BMS will include stores (Country Mercantile is already open), restaurants, schools, health care facilities, and 400-plus acres for trails, parks and open space.

Elementary School #12 and the new TLAC are two of ten construction projects included in the February 2017 bond issue. The $99 million measure received a 62% yes vote. District staff are now working on establishing timelines for the two projects.
