Response to Intervention (RTI) is a multi-tiered approach to help struggling learners. Students' progress is closely monitored at each stage of intervention to determine the need for further research-based instruction and/or intervention. Students are provided extra help in the general education setting without first having to be “identified” into a program such as Title I or Special Education.
Richland School District provides a pyramid of interventions for students who need extra help. Staff demonstrates a collective responsibility for all students.
Information available at this site include decision-making tools for determining who needs extra help in math, reading, and behavior, and adopted interventions. Additionally, links to research are provided.
