Welcome to the White Bluffs Library! Hello, I am Mrs. Fogg, your White Bluffs Librarian. I would like to introduce to you our second librarian, Mrs. Goforth, and our library paraprofessional, Mrs. Lerschall. Our Library and Learning Resource Center is located at the top of the main stairs, and we are lucky enough to have a large library with 15 (count them sometime!) large windows overlooking the Mid-Columbia area. On a clear day we can see the Columbia River and even the White Bluffs! We currently have about 7,500 titles in our library; including non-fiction, fiction, and everyone (picture) books. We also have a nice reference book section, and subscribe to several magazines. We are working to build White Bluff's library and are happy to consider suggestions from parents, staff, and students. If you find a great book that we do not have please let the librarian know. We are always happy to receive any donated books in good condition that are appropriate for elementary students. White Bluffs Library ScheduleEvery class visits the library weekly for library instruction and book check out. 1st through 5th graders have a 50 minute library time, and kindergarten has a 25 minute library time. During the first 25 minutes (15 minutes for K) we learn skills such as:

We also talk about books, authors, special events and holidays, do book sharing, and other activities. The last 15-20 minutes (10 minutes for K) of the library time is for book check out and reading. Since check out occurs on library day, it is important for the students to return their books on or before their visit so they can check out new books. On library day books are returned to the library in the morning by each classroom, however books can be returned at any time through the book drop. White Bluffs Library Catalog and Resources Our visiting author last year was Tom Birdseye. Grades 1st through 5th had a chance to hear Mr. Birdseye share writing techniques in addition to how he became an author and how he comes up with ideas for his books. The library and PTO are currently looking into bringing an author to White Bluffs this school year. The White Bluffs PTO sponsors Scholastic book fairs in the fall and spring, and volunteers are always needed to help staff this event. If you'd like to help out, please contact the PTO.
