HiCap

What is HiCap?

The Highly Capable (Hi-cap) Program curriculum is supported by the district adopted curriculum, teacher instruction and the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Hi-cap is for students that meet or exceed the 90th percentile ranking on multiple assessments for both math and reading in the Richland School District. Additionally, each school offers accommodations and services for highly-capable students that are selected from a menu of options. Highly-Capable students will receive instruction requiring more complex skills with a deeper and broader understanding of content.

Students who are identified as Hi Cap in math, will access above grade level math experiences to include a variety of enrichment opportunities in addition to core instruction.  Students who are identified as Hi Cap in reading, will access above grade level literacy experiences to include higher level text and a variety of enrichment opportunities in addition to core instruction.
