Art Club
Is for 4th & 5th grade students and meets after school on Wednesdays from 3:15 - 4:15pm. We do fun art projects like clay castle towers, enter contests such as PTA Reflections and WA State Duck Stamp, and make a sketchbook for weekly sketching assignments. We also we create a new design for our club T-shirt every year. Sometimes we do a big project for the school, such as painting the cliffs on the climbing wall in the gym. Chess Club
This year Chess Club will be held in two sessions. First and second
graders are invited to learn and play chess each Thursday during their
lunch recess in Mrs. Holgate’s room. Third, fourth and fifth graders
are welcome to learn and play chess after school every Thursday from
3:15-4:00 in the Tapteal library. Contact Mrs. Holgate for more information.
Choir
All 5th graders who love to sing are invited to join. The choir meets Wednesday and Thursday at lunchtime. This is a whole year commitment with performances at the Veteran's Day Assembly, the Christmas Assembly, the Choir Showcase with other 5-12 grade choirs in Richland (there will be ~200 4th and 5th graders in one choir!), and an end of the year trip to Coulee City/Grand Coulee Dam! Circus Club
That's right, it is back! Circus Club is an awesome after-school activity where kids can learn to juggle, walk on stilts, and even ride a unicycle. 4th and 5th grade students, new or experienced, are invited to join in every Thursday from 3:15 - 4:00p.m. Cost is only $10 to help pay for T-shirts and equipment. German Club
German Club will take place in the library and will be taught by Mrs. Neitzel. First and second graders will meet on Thursdays at lunch. Third through fifth graders will meet on Mondays at lunch. We will focus on oral language and will learn the language through stories, role plays, rhymes, and song. Culture will also be highlighted. Gymnastics Club
Tumble, roll, and flip! Gymnastics club is back for 4th and 5th graders and we are planning on getting a whole new set of mats this year! Some skills that kids will be working on include: balance, core strength, beginning to intermediate tumbling, and flexibility. Gymnastics Club will run every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:15 - 3:45 p.m. Cost is only $15 to help pay for T-shirts and equipment. Contact Mrs. Byrd - Advisor, for more information.
Junior Joggers
Come one. Come all! Last year was our first year and now we are going strong! All students will be invited to participate in the Junior Joggers every Tuesday (grades 3-5) or Wednesday (grades 1-2). We have an official "Junior Joggers Course" marked outside where students, teachers, and even parents may come and jog for prizes and fun. Research has shown that regular jogging not only improves health and self-confidence, but also stimulates the brain for better learning and concentration. What a way to brighten your child's day! Kid Calypso
Kid Calypso is Tapteal's talented Steel Drum Band. It is a group of 4th and 5th graders that perform not only at Tapteal but all around the Tri-City community and other cities around the Northwest. More Information
Orchestra
All 4th and 5th graders who are interested in learning a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, and string bass) are invited to join. The orchestra meets every Monday through Thursday 8:15 - 8:40 am. This is a whole year commitment with performances at the Christmas Assembly, the Tapteal Spring Concert for Grades 3-5, the Richland School District Orchestra Gala in the spring, and an end of the year trip to Coulee City/Grand Coulee Dam! Tech Club
Tech Club is an opportunity for students to expand their knowledge in technology. Third though fifth graders will meet on Wednesdays during lunch in the library or computer lab. Students bring their hopes and enthusiasm to learn about electronic technologies. We may work with all sorts of technologies ranging from using digital cameras to creating slide shows. Together we may even create simple web sites. As we work towards proficiency, our focus will be to create projects that will enhance our school’s monthly assemblies.
