Veterans Day celebration

In honor of our Veterans we will be hosting a Veteran’s Day Hero Parade at Sacajawea Elementary. This event will take place Friday, November 9, 2018. We ask all Veterans to meet in the Sacajawea Café at 9:15. At 9:30 we will then start our Hero’s Parade as our Veterans walk the halls and receive a Hero’s welcome. After the parade we will have a brief reception back in the Café. Those students who have a family or friend attending our parade may accompany them to the reception. Please let the Veterans in your life know about this event.

Strong community support for RSD levy proposals

Richland School District residents approved two four-year levy propositions on Tuesday night. The initial count from the Benton County Auditor’s office is:

  • Proposition #1 – Educational Programs Levy - 68% yes vote
  • Proposition #2 – Technology Levy - 66% yes vote

“Thank you to our community for this positive result,” said Superintendent Rick Schulte. “Election results like this attract quality teachers and support staff to the Richland School District. It brings families to our community who value education, and who, in turn, support businesses and other services.”

"We appreciate our community’s strong tradition of supporting RSD students through local levy support," stated Rick Jansons, President of the Richland School Board. “Approval of these two measures is especially gratifying given the changes and confusion following the state legislature’s action last year.”

Local levy money makes up about 19% of the Richland School District operating budget.

Attendance is Important!

Communicating with your children while at school

Student Messages

In order for us to maintain a positive classroom environment, we need to limit the number of messages being delivered to students.  To reduce these interruptions please:

  • Prearrange after school activities
  • Hold students accountable for remembering their after school arrangements
  • Use alternative reminder methods such as a note pinned to the backpack
  • Wait to give non-critical information to your child until you see them next

If you do have an urgent message that needs to get to your child, you will need to call the office prior to 2:00pm.  At that time, a student messenger will deliver the handwritten message to the classroom teacher.
