Career Research Project

During Freshman year, RHS students use their Career Pathway testing results as the basis for further exploring career options through a research project.  Below are tools to help you conduct primary and secondary research for your project. 1.  WOIS has great 9th grade options in the Assessment link.  The Career Interest Areas, Interest Profile and Skills assessments are the recommended options.

2. Another option is to take a Learning Style Assessment at http://people.usd.edu/~bwjames/tut/learning-style/  Copy and paste your results into the essay folder in your WOIS portfolio for future reference.

2. Interested in how much money you will earn?  A great tool is found at http://monster.com

3. A great collection of occupation interviews are available at http://www.vocbiosonline.com/login.php  Login using the passwords posted in the Career Center and Library.

1. Investigate the high school classes recommended for students considering your career.  Detailed lists are available in the “High School Courses” link of the Occupations pages in WOIS.

2. Compare recommended courses to the course offerings at RHS

3. Choose classes for next year which include both required and preparatory courses for your after-high-school plan.

4. Investigate the action plans for each after-high school path and include the steps you need in your own action plan.

P Consult the guides to the left and write a personal action plan for next year.

P Use the Bomber Planning Guide to document your planning

P Save your plan in the File Management folder of your portfolio or save your plan in the High School and Beyond Plan folder in your WOIS portfolio.
