IMPORTANT DATES AND EVENTS:
Sports Day Tuesday, June 9: We have a fun day planned with 16 sports stations set up on the Marcus playground for students to enjoy. We are looking for parent volunteers to help with each station. If you would be willing to help that day (8:45-3:00 or half-day AM or PM), please contact the Marcus main office, 967-6300. Volunteers needed!
Last Day Family BBQ: On June 10, 2015, the staff and students of Marcus Whitman Elementary would like to invite all families of Marcus students to eat a barbeque lunch with us. Classes will be released to eat lunch at their regular, shortened scheduled time as follows.
1st grade 11:35 - 12:25
2nd grade 11:45 - 12:25
3rd grade 11:50 - 12:25
4th grade 11:55 - 12:25
5th grade 12:00 - 12:25
The school district will be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill with all the condiments and will provide a complete lunch for all. You may also bring your own "picnic" lunch from home. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit and relax with your students.
Parents, if you'd like to attend our last day BBQ lunch, please let the office know how many lunches you will need and bring exact change to pay, excluding your studnets lunch. Full adult lunch - $3.50 and full child lunch - $2.50.
Planning Ahead for the 2015-16 School Year:
Marcus Whitman School will be under construction and rebuilt next school year. We are very excited about our brand new building opening in the fall of 2016. All Marcus Whitman students will be attending school at the old Sacajawea Elementary building for the 2015-16 school year. Transportation will be available to families. Marcus Whitman School will be permanently closed on Friday, June 12. Our 2015-16 school office will open at the old Sacajawea school on Monday, June 15.
Kindergarten Registration Information:
Parents, if you have new kindergarteners to register for next fall, PLEASE come in and complete regristration paperwork as soon as possible. We are trying to build those classes right now. You can stop in and get your kindergarten registration packet at the front office. The more registrations we can get in before June, the better we can plan as a school (and possibly have lower class sizes at Marcus Whitman).
See you all at the PTA meeting on May 26, 4:00 pm. Final meeting of the year. We will be voting on officers for the next school year. Current nominees are: President: Amy Larson (coming from Jason Lee); Vice President: NO NOMINEE; Secretary: Abby Stevens; Treasurer: Julie Simm. Additional nominations will be accepted from the floor during the meetng. Please come and vote and help us get prepared for next year!
