Welcome to the Marcus Whitman Elementary website! Marcus Whitman Elementary is one of nine elementary schools in the Richland School District. We have 390 students in grades K-5 and serve families in the great city of Richland, WA.

Family involvement is very important to us at Marcus Whitman. We have a strong partnership with our PTA, encourage family involvement in the classrooms and host many family activities throughout the year (SLAM Night, Parenting Workshops, Open House, Family Bingo Night, Family Movie Night, PTA Carnival, Family Craft Night, PTA ‘Pick-A-Price’ Yard-sale, etc...).

As Mustangs… we pride ourselves on responsibility and citizenship. Throughout the school and every classroom, we focus and emphasize the Big Three: 1. Showing Respect, 2. Making Good Decisions, and 3. Solving Problems. Each month, we have a different character education trait that we target as a building. As a staff, we take every opportunity to build positive relationships with students and recognize them for doing the right thing.

We celebrate growth! At Marcus Whitman, we are all about getting better every day. We celebrate improvement together as a staff. We also celebrate improvement with our students and families. Each month, students can be nominated for a ‘student of the month’ award based on improvements made in the classroom.

Marcus Whitman is a school-wide Title-I school. This allows us to support our students in many different ways. We are very proud that we can provide small group instruction to students, extended day opportunities for learning, and a summer learning "bridge" program (coming summer 2013).

Thank you for visiting the Marcus Whitman Webpage! Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about our great school!

It’s always a great day to be a Mustang!
