Ticket to Read!

Would you like to earn a FREE ticket to Silverwood?  Well, you can!  All you have to do is read for 600 minutes over a 6 week time period.  If you read even more than 600 minutes you can have your name put in a drawing for a new bike!  All of the forms are due back by March 13 - so get busy reading!!


Kindergarten Registration Information:

Beginning March 2, parents in the Richland School District may register their children for kindergarten at their neighborhood elementary schools.  Registration will continue through the spring.

The child's state certified birth certificate and an immunization record listing dates that shots were received are required for registration as well as proof of address (i.e. utility bill, rental agreement).  To be eligible for kindergarten, the child must be five years of age on or before August 31, 2015.  For more information, call 967-6003.

Parents are encouraged to enroll their children as early as possible.  Early enrollment helps the District plan more effectively for the number of kindergarten teachers that will be needed at each school in the fall.

For children who turn five between September 1 and December 1, but who are ready socially, emotionally and intellectually for kindergarten, early entrance testing is offered once a year, in mid-August.  The test registration deadline is July 31, 2015.  For information regarding the test, fees and registration, please contact the Assessment Office at 967-6025 or via email at

Girls on the Run is coming to Marcus!  Strengthening Girls from Start to Finish.  Girls on the Run is a character development program for girls in 3rd - 5th grades that combines training for a 5k run/walk with self-esteem enhancing lessons, empowering girls to have a healthy body image, a strong sense of identity, give and receive support from a group, stand up for themselves in a healthy manner and understand their importance in the community.  If interested in helping please contact Abby Stevens 943-2187 or

A big thank you to all who participated in the Read-A-Thon!  Our school raised $2,950 total!!!  Parents:  Students who participated in Read-A-Thon MUST log in to their page using their secret code to spend their RAT bucks in the prize center by February 23rd.  After Fed. 23rd all money earned is lost, so PLEASE make sure your student receives their reward for their awesome reading efforts!  If you have lost your secret code, email and we can get it for you.
