LEWIS & CLARK PTA ACTIVITIES
Banking – Washington Mutual School Savings Program – help students deposit money to their accounts, counting change and computer entry
Bike Rodeo – help inspect bikes, register participants, correct written tests and/or staff the four obstacle courses – usually held in May.
Bingo – solicit prizes from businesses, sell bingo cards and/or refreshments. PTA fundraiser for children and their families.
Book Fair – help Mrs. Hansen, librarian, with the set-up, recruit other volunteers and/or serve as cashier. The book fair will be held in March for five days. The hours are open during the school day with one evening time.
Campbell Soup Labels/General Mills box tops – collects labels from classrooms and sorts into bundles to purchase school equipment.
Carnival – A day of entertainment, crafts, concessions for families. Volunteers are needed for games, concessions, ticket sales and supervision. This fundraiser supports 5 th grade year end activities. All 5 th grade families are encouraged to participate with this event.
Chess Club – help students learn/play chess once a week for 45 minutes usually 3:15 – 4:00 p.m. from November – February. Help sell snacks or help with set-up and clean up.
Courtyard Gardening – maintain plants in the courtyard during the growing season.
Fall Fund-raiser – typically in September. This event supports the PTA budget and 5 th grade year end activities. Volunteers are needed to distribute product and prizes.
Fuzzy Friends – provides money to purchase new bears for police, fire and hospital in Richland.
Giving Tree – students collect canned food, new gifts for families in need at Lewis and Clark.
Jogathon – typlically held before Spring Break. This is a fun event where the students and teachers job around a set course for 45 mintues. Volunteers are needed to help record laps, pin on name tags, provide water and distribute prizes.
Movie Night – families can gather on the gym floor for a night of entertainment. Volunteers are needed to help supervise and run concession stand.
Newsletter – edit and layout newsletter articles, proof copy and order from the print shop, and distribute to classes once a month.
Reflections – PTA sponsored competition in writing, photography, art and music. Distribute entry forms, collect entries, find volunteer judges, recognition of winners, and submission of entries for city contest. Theme – “My favorite Place. . .”
Science Fair – April 12 - distribute information, talk to classes, plan evening information session, find evaluators, assist students in setting up their displays, distribute certificates and ribbons.
Skating Party – publicize monthly, obtain prizes, and attend event at Rollarena. Chaperones needed to help enforce safety rules. Chaperones skate for free!
Spring Fund-raiser – distribute fund-raiser catalogs, collect orders, distribute orders and record keeping.
Staff Appreciation – plan activities for May to thank staff.
Student Store – monitor once a week - students working in the store that sells low cost school supplies
Talent Show – noncompetitive demonstrations of music, dance, dramatic readings, etc.
Terrific Thursday – help sell candy/snacks after school and after morning kindergarten on Thursdays.
Vision Screening – assist in school-wide distance vision screening
Volunteer Luncheon – A lunch is provided for all our wonderful volunteers to celebrate their hard work throughout the year.
