Jefferson PTA Committees

Assemblies:

The PTA sponsors special assemblies (i.e., Pacific Science Center) for our students during the year.

AT&T Learning Points:

A volunteer program for AT&T customers. School earns points to be redeemed for technology products.

Big G Box Tops:

General Mills "Box Tops for Education" are collected throughout the year and are redeemed for cash to be used for school projects.

Bingo:

Bingo is a fun family game held every year.

Book Fair:

Two one-week Scholastic book sales are held in the fall and the spring and coincides with a family feast. Our school library acquires new books from this fund raiser.

Campbell Soup Labels:

Campbell Soup and associated product labels are collected for free educational equipment.

Citizen's Advisory Council:

CAC is a district committee which acts as a liaison between individual schools and the school board. Representatives serve a two-year term.

Classroom Enhancement:

The PTA gives each teacher money to spend during the year for classroom activities or supplies.

Classroom Reading:

PTA pays for Scholastic Reader, Weekly Reader, and other classroom reading material.

Classroom Volunteers:

Each class has a room parent (helps teacher organize class parties, special activities, and a booth at Fun Night); a Yearbook volunteer (takes pictures and does picture layout) and Scholastic Reader volunteer (collects money for outside reading material).

Cultural Fair:

An exciting event in March to celebrate our cultural diversity at Jefferson.

Fun Night:

A fun-filled no-ride carnival year. Each classroom runs a game booth. Lots of food, fun and prizes.

Family Night Out:

Two family-style "Pizza Nights" will be held to coincide with the fall and spring book fairs.

5th Grade Party:

End of year party for the departing 5th grade students. Funds collected from roller-skating parties are used to pay for this event.

Fund raiser:

PTA runs a major fund raiser in the fall to purchase equipment for the school. This year the proceeds go to purchasing playground equipment.

Giving Tree:

December event which collects food and gifts for needy families within our school.

Golden Acorn:

An award presented to a volunteer who has made significant contributions to health, safety, welfare and education of children. Donation made to WA State Financial Grant Foundation in recipients honor.

Holiday Shop:

This two-day December event allows students to purchase holiday gifts at a reasonable price.

Homework Folders:

The PTA supplies homework folders for our students.

Hospitality:

PTA provides refreshments at Welcome Back Luncheon (for the teachers), Back to School Night, Reflections Program, And the DARE Graduation Program.
