Van Use Notification

 

The September 1, 2003 through August 31, 2006 contract between the Richland School District and the Public School Employees of Richland / MOT contains the following language which allows the District to utilize vans for the transportation of students under specific conditions.

 

Section 7.17.1.  Van Use.

  1. When nine (9) students or less are involved in a trip the District may utilize a van, driven by a Richland School District employee, to transport those students.  The use of a van does not negate a Richland School District driver from driving the van.
  2. The district shall notify the Association three (3) working days in advance of its intent to use vans to transport nine (9) or less students.
  3. In the event that multiple schools are attending the same event and ten (10) or more students are being transported, a Richland School District bus shall be used.

 

Therefore, if the above criteria is met and staff desire to utilize vans for transportation of students, this form must be submitted to the proper PSE/MOT association representative at least three business days prior to the trip.  To accomplish this, please provide the following requested information and transmit this form (either electronically or via district mail) to the office of the Executive Director of Support Services at least four business days prior to the trip (the earlier the better).

Note:  The actual scheduling of vans should be coordinated through the student services department at the central administration building.  The district no longer operates a motor pool but the transportation department does maintain some vans that may be used in lieu of rentals based upon availability.
