when their students are scheduled to attend.
Please make it clear to students that their
attendance at assemblies is mandatory whenever the assembly is held
during the regular school day. Students
who do not attend may be considered truant.
If you wish to schedule an assembly, you must
clear it through the High School Activities Director or an administrator and
place it on the master calendar at

DANCES
We all share the chaperoning of dances. It works out well when each teacher
chaperons at least one dance. A sign-up
list will be by the faculty mailboxes.
We appreciate your support of student activities.

FIELD
TRIPS
See Appendix for Field Trip Processing Cut-Off
Dates
1. Pick
up the field trip request, checklist, and permission forms from Debbie James;
complete and return them to Debbie; Sandy Kellogg will assign a budget code,
and submit it to an Administrator for approval. (See Forms section.)
2. After
the field trip is authorized, have Diane Cuello put it on the calendar at
least two weeks prior to the trip—a complete list of
students who will be missing school should be given to all teachers at the same
time so the teachers will be able to plan their schedule, particularly if a
large number of students are involved.
The information should include general information such as grade and/or
class.
3. Be
sure to use the standard school Permission
Slip to obtain parental permission for the students to take part in the
field trip. (See Forms section.)
4. Three
to five (3-5) days before the trip, put out a final list of the names of
students who will miss classes and the time they will miss. Be sure Sharon Demiter gets a copy.
5. A
final listing of those students who actually made the trip should be given to
Sharon Demiter.
6. If
you or parents are driving the appropriate forms must be on file. A new form is required each year.
7. All volunteers and chaperones need to
have the appropriate forms on file. New
forms need to be completed each year.
FUND-RAISING
PROJECTS
Please inform the Activities Director, Paul
Mayer, prior to participation in any fund raising project. A
purchase order is a must before purchasing any merchandise for
resale! An ASB activity approval form
must also be turned in to Mr. Mayer.
NATIONAL
HONOR SOCIETY
Hanford High School has a chapter of the National Honor Society. To be eligible for membership, a student must be at least a junior and meet the four criteria set by the National Honor Society and clarified by Hanford High School.
Scholarship: The student must have a cumulative GPA of
3.500 and also a current quarter GPA of 3.500.
Leadership: The student must demonstrate leadership by
active membership in at least two (2) organizations, one of which is affiliated
with Hanford High School. This includes
all HHS co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
Service: The student must demonstrate service by
participating in at least three (3) service projects involving a total of at
least twelve (12) hours of service within the past two years. At least one (1) project of three hours must
be done directly through Hanford High School or as a part of a club or
organization at HHS.
Character: The student must receive a
majority of the votes of the five-member NHS Faculty Council. The Faculty
Council votes on students after receiving information from the Activity Sheet /
Information Packet that the student submits and the evaluations submitted by
their teachers. Both out in the
community as well as at school, a student’s behavior and standards at all times
are considered. Contact the NHS Advisor
for additional information or forms or go to www.rsd.edu/schools/hanfordhigh/.
See the Appendix for a sample NHS Activity
