It is hard to believe that school has been in full swing for over a month.   October is always an exciting and busy time at Badger Mountain Elementary.   There are many activities this month, and many ways to be involved in your child's school. A few of our upcoming events include:

1. Book Fair - this is a fun and inexpensive way to add to your family's library.  Lots of volunteers are needed throughout the week of October 12th, so sign up today!

2. Jog-A-Thon - encourage your child to ask friends, family and neighbors to support him or her as they raise money for our school and get a little physical exercise in the process.  If you want to join in the fun on the day of the event, each class will need a money handler and lap counters...so volunteer today to be a part of this school-wide event the morning of Friday, October 16th.

3. Cowboy Roundup - Our busy fall spirit week wraps up with our famous fall social event on Friday evening, October 16th.  Castle Catering will be providing a wonderful meal this year.   The PTO has decided to offer two different "meal times" so that we can serve as many families as possible.   Tickets for the event MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE and you can choose to dine at 5:30 pm or 7pm.   Watch for flyers in your child's folder regarding this fun and tasty event.   Don't forget to wear your cowboy hat and boots!

As you can see, October has a little bit of something for everyone...whether it is jogging with the kids, counting money, helping students select a great book, or helping out at the Cowboy Roundup...remember that volunteering just two hours of your time can make a big impact!

Finally, we wanted to mention that in response to parent feedback, we have moved our PTO meetings to the FIRST TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH.   For our PTO meeting on October 6, 2009, we will begin our meeting at 6:30 pm in the gymnasium.   Badger Mountain Elementary is utilizing a new discipline plan this year entitled "Time to Teach."   This plan is focused on teaching responsible behavior in the classroom, on the playground and in the hallways.   The "Time to Teach" model has been used successfully in many different schools, and allows for better instruction school wide.   A team of Badger Mountain Teachers, Principal Gail Ledbetter and a "Time to Teach" consultant will be presenting the model to all interested parents, as well as answering any questions you may have.   As a PTO, we encourage all parents to attend this important event.
