Following are the grade-level reading goals:
Kindergarten - During the month of April, the students will read for 20 minutes Monday - Thursday and record on their Weekly Reading Log located in the Kindergarten homework packet. Parents will need to sign off on the packet to show their child met the weekly goal.
First Grade - To earn a book from the first grade treasure box, students must read 20 minutes a day, Monday - Friday, and record it on their homework chart during the month of April.
Second Grade - From April 4th - April 29th , students will read at least 20 minutes, five times a week. They will also need to fill in the calendar that will be provided and return it to school on April 29th. The 2nd grade celebration for all students who complete this goal will be on Friday, April 30th .
Third Grade - Third graders who have made or exceeded the goal of reading at least 400 minutes during the month of May will be rewarded with the choice of a book from the third grade treasure box.
Fourth Grade - During the months of March, April and May, the goal for fourth grade is reading a total of four chapter books at their reading level.
Fifth Grade - Students in the fifth grade will read nine chapter books on their reading level starting March 2nd and ending on June 1st .

The Kindergarten Team will be hosting our annual Kindergarten Readiness meeting on Thursday, April 20 from 6:30 - 7:30p.m. All parents of incoming kindergartners are invited to come learn about how to make sure their children are ready for Kindergarten. Please pass the word to any parents who have an incoming kindergartner!
Our state-wide testing this spring will take place later than in other years, and will be much shorter as well. The name of the test has changed from the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) to the Measurement of Student Progress (MSP). Following are the dates for the assessment:
May 17 - Writing I - 4th Grade Science - 5th Grade
May 18 - Reading - 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, 5th Grade
May 19 - Math - 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, 5th Grade
May 20- Writing II - 4th Grade
