The Hanford High School Symphony Orchestra auditioned and has been chosen to perform at the 2018 Orchestra America Festival next March in Indianapolis. The Hanford High Symphony Orchestra is one of 13 orchestras from across the nation selected. In addition to performing at the prestigious festival, the young musicians will have an opportunity to work with, and learn from, some of the top orchestra clinicians in the world.

“Our orchestra program is relatively young so it's amazing to be able to attend a world class music festival like this,” stated Chris Newbury, HHS music teacher and symphony orchestra director. “Both the students and myself are focused on achieving the highest level of performance.”

The Hanford High School Symphony Orchestra meets after school and is made up of the school’s Chamber Orchestra and various winds and percussion. The students associated with this ensemble have gone on to excel at top institutions such as Harvard, Dartmouth, Stanford, and Carnegie Mellon.

The HHS Symphony Orchestra has also been selected to perform at the 2018 Washington Music Educator’s Conference next February in Yakima.
