Levy election coming up in February

The Richland School District levy election is coming up on February 13. Here is some information....

  • The 2019-2022 levy is not a new tax....RSD residents are being asked to renew the levy.

  • This levy will replace the current levy which expires at the end of 2018.

  • The levy allows the District to continue essential programs which are not funded by the state.

  • Local levy money makes up about 8% of the District’s annual operating budget.

                                                         

New state regulations require less dependence on local levies.

Positive news for taxpayers – local levy tax rate will drop** significantly.


The 2019-2022 levy will be comprised of two propositions - $2.00 tax rate total.

1. Educational Programs Levy -

  • $1.50 per $1000 assessed valuation.
  • Money used for extracurricular activities, staff training, necessary staff (i.e. adequate number of nurses and paraprofessionals), teacher pay for extra time, course offerings (i.e. zero hour, AP, special education)..  

 

2.Technology Levy -

  • $0.50 per $1000 assessed valuation.
  • Money used for replacing technology equipment and for staff training.
