Badger Mountain Elementary School first grade students present their "Weekend News" writing assignments to teacher Carin McClelland. Weekend News is a weekly writing activity in which the first graders work on content, organization and structure as well as on spelling and punctuation.

"It's exciting to see young students learn how to use the writing process," says McClelland. "They organize ideas, write drafts, revise and improve drafts and then publish."
