Superintendent's Message
A Message from Superintendent Dr. Richard Semler

2007-08 School Year

Welcome to the Richland School District. You and your children are part of an outstanding educational system.

We work hard to make sure students master the foundational skills of reading, writing and math. We build upon that foundation by offering a rigorous academic program which prepares students for successful futures.

We're making good progress in trying to help all students achieve success, but there's still much work to do. That's why each school has an action plan in place to improve academic achievement. Principals and teachers use these plans to stay focused on student learning.

We're expanding and improving our facilities thanks to passage of the 2003 bond issue. Enterprise Middle School opened two years ago to positive reviews. The new Jason Lee Elementary School and the new White Bluffs Elementary School are opening in August 2007. The total renovation of Hanford High School will be complete in September 2007. Meanwhile, the final phase of the Richland High School renovation project, modernization of Mac Hall, is now underway and will be completed by June 2008.

It's exciting to be part of a vibrant community that supports education. Thanks for joining our team as we work together to help students be the best they can be.
